There’s a couple I know who I have a really hard time being around. We used to live nearby then a few years ago, and my drama radar would always be on high alert when we spent time together.

Whenever we were around them, I always noticed that their relationship consisted of bantering, badgering, and criticism toward one another.

Once upon a time, I freaked out about dating. I was that Christian single girl who jumped on the bandwagon of kissing dating goodbye- except of course for dating Jesus.

I repressed my desire for dating and relationships with the opposite sex, and decided that courtship was the “holier” course of action for my life. I bought into the lie that instead of actually DEALING with my fear of failure, or my fear of making mistakes, I could just sit back and do nothing, and pray that God would magically bring me a spouse.

“A woman should never pay for a meal. Nor should she ever pick up the phone and call. He should always be the pursuer, no matter what. She should always wait on him to take the lead.”

I don’t think those were the exact words she used, but that was the intended message. I’ll never forget reading these words from one of my favorite authors. She was the godliest woman I knew (and by “knew” I mean I read every single one of her books!), but she was quite old fashioned and set in her ways when it came to male-female interaction.

According to my monthly polls at TrueLoveDates.com, most of my readers agree that the best thing to do on a first date is simply this: go out for a cup of coffee.

Aaaaahhhh, the coffee date. I love the coffee date, and not just because I love coffee. It’s the best kind of first date because it’s simple, casual, and low pressure. It’s a great environment to get to know someone, but best of all, it’s totally flexible.

A recent poll on TrueLoveDates.com revealed that more than ⅓ of voters believed in “Love at First Sight”. According to some of the people I’d spoken with, they knew they fell in love within a few moments of making eye contact. Their feelings were undeniable.

There are few people that really know what they’re getting into when it comes to getting married. I was one of those people. I mean, we all have an idea of what marriage is all about. We have hopes, dreams, and expectations of what it will look like. We watch movies, idolize TV shows, and even observe marriages in the world around us to try and get a glimpse of this thing we call holy matrimony. But we don’t really know until we’re there, do we?
