I joined CC in April 2014. This was my first attempt on online dating and I was very nervous about it. I prayed for the right partner and God answered my prayer.

I received many “waves” and started corresponding with a few gentlemen for a few weeks but none have really registered as THE ONE.
Russell waved and sent mails but I just replied in one liners as I have a very busy social life. That is, until I saw a photo of him in a remote place in the Philippines. Even though I originally came from the Philippines I have never been to this very remote and poor place.
Naturally, it attracted my attention as I asked why on earth is he there?

His answer was that he is going on mission trips there. I thought that if his passion is mission work in my native land, then he is an authentic good Christian man. I therefore started to be more interested in him, sent him longer replies to his emails which were very interesting. He has the gift of the gab.

Our first phone chat lasted from 8:30pm to 2:30 am the following morning, even though I was excitedly nervous at first. From there, he rang every night for the next month and we would be talking for at least 1 hour every time on the mobile.

April 2017 he proposed, I happily said YES, we got married September 2017 in Newcastle & another wedding in Melbourne.

Now we’ve just retired and will fly to Philippines in August to work as missionaries for 3 years. We’re still happily married, we feel that God’s hand is in all these as I had no idea I’ll end up married and a missionary. We are grateful to God.

We couldn’t imagine that at 65, we could still meet THE ONE and serve God as a couple. We kept saying we should’ve met 30 years ago, Christian Connection made it happen for us.

My number one tip is pray to God for the right partner but be proactive in searching. Do not judge the book by its cover as I had, only to find the right partner where I least expected. If you meet the right person, distance is an obstacle that can be overcome.
