Those were the heartfelt lyrics of my bridal entry song June 2019.
You could say it was 30 years waiting for me, with all the highs and lows, with very happy times in view of the freedom you have as a single person and sad and desperate moments missing this special closeness given by a partner.
Why did it not happen for me earlier? I don't know. On and off I asked God for a partner over the years, and in 2012 I joined CC realising that I had to become a little bit more active outside my church in trying to meet more people. 5 years of online dating with CC, with all the challenges it brings, both the wonderful and the weird, many times having to jump over my own shadow to make contact with somebody I knew very little about.
Through prayer I actually reached the point of accepting in peace that, for whatever reason, marriage was not in store for me. I gave a final wave to a couple of guys, expecting nothing. And yes, you probably guessed correctly, one of them is now my husband.
Within 1 hour he waved back ( until today insisting he saw me first and waved at me first). We got on so well from the beginning, spoke for hours on the phone, and Agnello later told me that within 10 minutes of meeting me face to face he knew with certainty that I would be his wife one day.
We got engaged six months later and married one year later with all our family, friends and church family joining the wedding ceremony.
I want to encourage everyone never to stop asking God. It might take time, but God is faithful.
